ADInstruments PVLoop is a specialized software solution for acquiring, visualizing, and analyzing ventricular pressure–volume (PV) loop data in cardiovascular research. Developed to integrate seamlessly with ADInstruments LabChart and PowerLab systems, it provides real-time PV loop displays, robust beat detection, and streamlined workflows to convert catheter signals into calibrated pressure and volume measurements. PVLoop helps researchers quantify systolic and diastolic function, assess load-dependent and load-independent indices, and compare interventions with confidence and reproducibility.

Key features:

  • Real-time PV loop plotting with automatic beat detection, loop alignment, and averaging
  • Guided calibration and correction tools for converting conductance to volume and handling parallel conductance, compatible with common catheter calibration methods
  • Comprehensive metrics, including stroke volume, ejection fraction, cardiac output, dP/dtmax and dP/dtmin, tau (relaxation), stroke work, pressure–volume area, arterial elastance, ESPVR/EDPVR (e.g., Ees, V0), and preload-recruitable stroke work
  • Dedicated workflows for maneuvers such as vena cava occlusions to derive load-independent indices
  • Flexible data selection, region-of-interest tools, and side-by-side comparisons across conditions or time points
  • Export of signals, derived parameters, and figures to standard formats for reporting and further analysis

PVLoop is well suited for preclinical in vivo and ex vivo studies, from small to large animal models, and supports teaching and research on cardiac mechanics, contractility, and hemodynamic interventions.

ADInstruments PVLoop is developed by ADInstruments. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 2.4, 2.5 and 2.6.
